Used for processing Gold ore. If water is scarce, a Rocker box may be used. The washing action is provided by rocking the rocker back and forth. The coarse gravel is caught in the screen and periodically dumped, so that only fine material goes to the riffles (stops). Although the rocker has less capacity than a sluice, it is faster than a pan.
