The Alimak Raise Climber is used to mine vertical or steeply sloped excess routes for stope access, equipment handling, or ventilation. The machine runs on a track, which is securely fastened to the walls of the raise by rock bolts. The miners can ride up and down the raise in the man carrier below the platform. The track sections contain air/water lines for drilling. This development method has greatly increased the rate of raise driving.
